I recently refreshed my wardrobe (again) by adding a few essential items that I found secondhand for just $60! Opting for thrifted pieces is my go-to choice, and actually, the majority of my wardrobe consists of thrifted gems or items I’ve acquired from friends.
I understand that thrifting might seem overwhelming. Many people often mention that browsing through a large thrift store like Goodwill can be quite a task. However, you can always keep an eye out for local thrift stores (like the ones where I found these amazing thrifted finds) which usually have smaller, more carefully selected collections! By the way, Plato’s Closet is also an excellent place for shopping curated, secondhand clothing.
In any case, today I’m here to present you with cute and affordable fashion options that are not only budget-friendly but also environmentally friendly!
Why thrift?
Thrifting is not only a sustainable and eco-friendly approach to fashion, but it also has other benefits worth mentioning. By opting for thrifted clothing, you not only contribute to reducing the strain on natural resources like water and energy, but you also minimize the amount of waste ending up in landfills.
Unlike mass-produced clothing, thrifted items often have their own stories and history attached to them. You have the opportunity to curate a wardrobe that reflects your personal style while standing out from the crowd.
Second-hand stores and online platforms (i.e Thredup, the Reelreel, Poshmark) dedicated to pre-loved items provide budget-friendly options for those looking to save money without compromising their style. It’s like embarking on a treasure hunt, exploring racks and shelves filled with hidden gems waiting to be discovered.
Embracing thrifting also means supporting local businesses and contributing to the local economy. Many thrift stores operate on a smaller scale and are often owned by individuals or families. By purchasing from these stores, you are directly supporting small business owners while helping to sustain the local community.
It can be a fun and rewarding experience, too. There is a sense of satisfaction that comes with finding that perfect vintage dress or a unique accessory that perfectly complements your style.
Remember, when it comes to fashion, being sustainable doesn’t mean you have to compromise on style or break the bank. Thrifting offers a win-win solution for those seeking to reduce their environmental impact, explore their individuality, and save a few bucks along the way. Happy thrifting!
My thrifted sixty
First up: this versatile white tank and two pairs of shorts that can be casual or dressed up & formal!

This wrap dress was a must have from the moment I laid eyes on it!

I love this sweet and simple romper. Another item that can be easy to throw on or great for dressing up a bit.

This is the perfect mid-length dress for transitioning seasons!

There is nothing like finding a pair of jeans with a perfect fit, especially when you’re thrifting! I’m obsessed with the cut of these too. I found this cute, moss green shirt that has a faux little turtle neck to pair with it. A perfect Florida fall outfit.

Thanks for reading through! Can you believe I got all of this for only $60? I hope this inspires you to make an eco-friendly move by trying your hand at thrifting or at least to freshen up your wardrobe!
